South Jakarta Held Car Free Day at Honda Park

HBKB is one of the solutions to reduce air pollution

To create clean air in its area, South Jakarta Administration held car free day (HBKB) at Honda Park, Tebet Sub-District, Sunday (5/11).

“HBKB is one of the solutions to reduce air pollution,” stated South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor.

Noor hopes the HBKB could create citizens' awareness to use bicycles and not rely on motor vehicles that causing air pollution.

“Besides healthy, bicycle can also reduce air pollution,” he said.

According to Noor, South Jakarta Administration will also maximize the function of green open spaces as city parks.

“Besides maximizing existing parks, such as Honda Park, Ayodia Park, and Puring Park, we're also discussing about land acquisition to add green open spaces to minimize air pollution which now quite alarming,” he utered.

Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Arifin Hamonangan, informed that HBKB will be conducted twice a week.

“HBKB can reduce air pollution, balance the environment as well as ecosystem, and also educate the citizens to reduce motor vehicles usage to reduce pollution around us,” he explained.
